Sourdough Class with Stephen Arnott

An unforgettable sourdough class in NSW

Are you ready to master the art of sourdough bread making? Join us for an immersive and hands-on sourdough class led by our expert hosts.

Allie is your co-host, co-founder of Morpeth Sourdough Bakery, and Master of Food Microbiology. With detailed knowledge of food fermentations, (having previously worked for the largest bakery in Australia) you’ll be privy to the fascinating science of sourdough.

The other half of the dynamic duo is Stephen Arnott, a sourdough master baker from one of the oldest baking families in Australia, and the class is run from the Historic Arnott Bakehouse built in 1850.

We've been baking sourdough since 2000 and retailing at the Historic Arnott Bakehouse in Morpeth since 2003. Our ancestors are famous bakers and you are probably most familiar with William Arnott. Not only is he Stephen's great, great, great grandfather, but he was the founder of Arnott's Biscuits! He baked here at this very site back in the 1860s.

We believe that our passion, expertise, history, and setting make us a contender for the best sourdough class in NSW. Be sure to book in now or call (02) 4934 4148 for a unique experience at the Historic Arnott Bakehouse that you won’t forget anytime soon.

Take home Arnott's sourdough culture, exclusive Masterclass apron, fermented dough, recipes, methods, prep notes and plenty of fond memories.

The sourdough class was a huge experience. We learnt so much about the process of making sourdough and enjoyed lots of hands on practice as well. Hosts were a wealth of knowledge and keen to pass on so much to us. Lunch was also great. A great day out.

Great course in a historical place. After 30 years flour milling experience, I have once again learnt a lot. Having Allie as a Food Technologist and Stephen as a hands on Baker all details of the Sourdough process was well explained. My wife and I can't wait to put it into practice and bake tasty healthy sourdough. I would highly recommend the course.

I got to actively participate in the whole experience, meet great people and hear some amazing history around Arnott’s, the building, and Morpeth. I can’t wait to put what I have learnt into practice, Stephen was really keen to learn about my experiences and to help me further expand on my skills. Very grateful that I chose this class over the others on offer.

My daughter gave me this experience for a Christmas Present and attended the class with me. It was a very personal class with only the two of us and we were both very impressed with the depth of knowledge shown by Stephen and Allie. Enjoyable lunch and plenty of information. Cannot wait to feed my culture and start baking. Thank you Stephen for your personal approach.

A truly unique opportunity to learn about the art of sourdough culture (pun intended) and sourdough bread-making from a renowned expert in a very personal, “hands on” way. Also loved hearing, first hand, about the family history of a true Australian icon (Arnott’s Biscuits).
